Reform-Conservative-Orthodox Structures and Beyond

Twentieth-century Jewish religious life was grounded in denomination-based congregations, providing a base for communal gathering and individual Jewish identity. However, recent studies point to an increasingly “post-denominational” future for American Jewry. Representing Reform, Conservative, and Orthodox Judaism, our panel will discuss questions of contemporary denominational identity in synagogue communities.
Professor Adam S. Ferziger is a professor in the Department of Jewish History and Contemporary Jewry at Bar-Ilan University who focuses on history of religious responses to modern and contemporary life.
