Se'u Shearim: Receiving the Torah
New Release • 4m 4s
As we begin the holiday of Shavuot this evening, we recall the original receiving of the Torah. At festive moments such as Rosh Hashanah, the congregation receives the Torah differently, making personal gestures of respect as it is carried around the sanctuary in procession (hakafah) with great reverence. Music of grandeur and solemnity accompanies such a moment. It is an opportunity to recommit ourselves to the values that this festival celebrates. Wishing you a Chag Sameach and Shabbat shalom!
Music: Meir Finkelstein, brass arrangement by Raymond Goldstein commissioned by PAS Music Center
Recorded live at Rosh Hashanah services 2022
Music Director: David Enlow
AV: Oscar Acevedo, Erik van Batavia, Justin Goodman
